PCCW (00008) announced its interim results for the six months ended June 30, 2025, reporting revenue of HK$18.922 billion, an increase of 6.92% year-on-year. Shareholders' attributable loss stood at HK$445 million, narrowing by 3.68% compared to the same period last year. Basic loss per share was 5.75 HK cents, while the company proposed an interim dividend of 9.77 HK cents per share.
According to the announcement, in the first half of this year, PCCW continued to deepen market penetration and user engagement across Southeast Asian countries through Viu's high-quality and diversified localized content on its video streaming service. The group also created more development opportunities for its artists through various entertainment formats including live concerts, drama series, and live programs.
Viu currently operates in 15 markets across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa. As of the end of June 2025, Viu's paying subscriber base reached 13.8 million, with particularly notable growth in Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Leveraging its flexible dual-revenue model, Viu is committed to expanding and enriching its content offerings to meet the entertainment preferences of users and subscribers across different markets.
With the group's high-bandwidth, ultra-low latency integrated fiber and mobile networks, HKT is committed to becoming a leader in providing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and applications to individuals and enterprises, while simultaneously applying AI to transform its operations. This initiative is expected to further drive business growth and significantly enhance productivity.
Despite facing a challenging environment in the first half of the year, HKT demonstrated strong resilience, achieving revenue and EBITDA growth of 4% and 3% respectively, driving adjusted cash flow growth of 3%.
