Guangxi is actively promoting the integration of artificial intelligence with manufacturing, aiming to establish a new industrial framework for the ASEAN region.

The head of the Guangxi Department of Industry and Information Technology stated in Nanning that ASEAN nations currently exhibit strong demand for industrialization, digitalization, and intelligent transformation. Guangxi, with access to China's vast domestic market and facing the expansive ASEAN market, holds significant potential for collaboration in areas such as smart manufacturing and high-end equipment.

A conference on "Artificial Intelligence + Manufacturing" was held in Nanning. During the event, officials highlighted several major infrastructure projects accelerating in Guangxi. The Pinglu Canal is scheduled to open this year, which will shorten the shipping route for goods from the middle and upper reaches of the Xijiang River by approximately 560 kilometers and is expected to reduce comprehensive logistics costs by 18% to 30%. Furthermore, the upcoming launch of the Nanning International Communication Service Gateway will significantly cut data transmission delays between Nanning and ASEAN countries; for instance, the latency to Hanoi, Vietnam, will drop from around 100 milliseconds to just 3.5 milliseconds.

Regarding industrial foundations, Guangxi has established ten major industries each with an annual output value exceeding 100 billion yuan, including non-ferrous metals, steel, and food. Official data shows that in 2025, the core AI industry within Guangxi's industrial sector achieved an annual output value surpassing 89 billion yuan, with 258 new intelligent products being introduced for the first time. Since the beginning of last year, 328 "AI + manufacturing" application scenarios have been developed across various stages such as R&D, production, and operations management, leading to efficiency improvements of over 30% and cost reductions of more than 20% for key enterprises.

The conference unveiled ten leading application scenarios for "AI + manufacturing" in Guangxi. These include the intelligent island manufacturing system of SAIC-GM-Wuling, the full-process AI technology of Guangxi Huayi New Materials, and the "A'Nan Large Model" of Guangxi Nanning Aluminum Processing. These scenarios are noted for providing robust support for the high-end, intelligent, and green development of Guangxi's manufacturing sector.

In terms of intelligent products, Guangxi has seen the emergence of several locally manufactured items. An industrial humanoid robot produced by Liuzhou UBTECH has achieved mass production, with 1,000 units already deployed in factory workshops. Additionally, six-dimensional force sensors manufactured by Nanning Yuli hold over 20% of the domestic market share and 12% of the global market share in their specific segment.

Looking ahead to the next five-year plan period, Guangxi plans to implement a "Four 200s" project. This initiative aims to develop 200 landmark AI products, construct 200 high-quality industry datasets, launch 200 benchmark AI application scenarios, and cultivate 200 AI-enabled service providers.

The conference also released the first batch of the 2026 "AI + Manufacturing" demand list for Guangxi, comprising 176 items. Among these, 30 are AI-related demands from industrial enterprises in ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
