Jaguar Land Rover, the largest car manufacturer in the UK, suffered a cyberattack that resulted in a dramatic 27% drop in national car production last month, further pressuring the struggling UK automotive sector. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reported on Friday that car production in the UK fell to 51,090 units in September. Including commercial vehicles, the overall production decline was even more pronounced at 36%. This decline mirrors the earlier shutdown of Stellantis NV's Vauxhall van plant in Luton earlier this year. Following a significant cyberattack in late August, Jaguar Land Rover halted production for more than five weeks, gradually resuming operations thereafter.
