On the afternoon of May 19, 2026, coinciding with the 16th World Family Doctor Day, the Yangpu District Health Commission in Shanghai held a themed promotional event. During the event, the commission announced that nine community health service centers will progressively join the MEITUAN platform starting this month, launching a specialized "Internet + Community Nursing" service package. This follows the pilot integration of the Xinjiangwancheng Community Health Service Center into MEITUAN in January of this year. Upon completion, ten centers in Yangpu District will be accessible via MEITUAN, essentially covering the district's entire community health service system. This initiative positions Yangpu as the first district-level health system in China to achieve comprehensive integration with a local lifestyle platform.
The "Internet + Community Nursing" service package includes at-home nursing services such as wound dressing changes, PICC line maintenance, suture removal, and respiratory testing. All services are provided by registered nurses employed at the community health centers.
Under the guidance of the Yangpu District Health Commission, the Xinjiangwancheng Community Health Service Center pioneered the integration with MEITUAN earlier this year, becoming Shanghai's first community health institution on a local lifestyle platform. Over the five-month pilot period, the center's online traffic increased by 119.5%, with monthly orders for the "Internet + Community Nursing" package surging by up to 533%. The home-based nursing services have received widespread praise from community residents, with some noting that it effectively addresses long-standing challenges and alleviates the difficulty elderly individuals face when seeking medical care outside their homes.
Building on the successful pilot, nine additional community health centers in Yangpu District will join MEITUAN shortly. This move achieves a holistic digital integration of regional community health resources and further establishes a new service model for "Internet + Healthcare."
A MEITUAN healthcare business representative stated that the collaboration in Yangpu has developed a tripartite model involving "district health commission coordination, community health center implementation, and internet platform digital capability provision." This model offers a replicable and scalable pathway for the digital transformation of primary healthcare. MEITUAN will continue to collaborate with relevant authorities, leveraging its technological expertise to support the development of primary healthcare systems. The platform also plans to actively promote cooperation with community health centers in other districts of Shanghai, aiming to extend convenient primary medical services to more residents.
