Hedge fund giant Citadel, led by Ken Griffin, has hired AJ Bolduc from Goldman Sachs to lead its Asian trading and equity capital markets operations, according to informed sources.

The sources, who requested anonymity due to the private nature of the discussions, stated that Bolduc will join Citadel's international equities team in Hong Kong as head of Asian trading and primary market strategy.

Representatives for Citadel and Goldman Sachs declined to comment. Bolduc did not respond to requests for comment.

Citadel, which manages approximately $65 billion in assets, is aiming to significantly increase capital allocation to Asian markets by its international equities division over the next two to three years. Drew Gillanders, the London-based head of the division, travels regularly to the region to recruit, evaluate, and mentor portfolio managers and analysts. This division is one of four at Citadel that uses fundamental research for stock investments; the other three operate solely within the United States.

According to Bolduc's LinkedIn profile, prior to joining Citadel, she worked at Macquarie and later at Goldman Sachs, where she assisted companies and investors with equity offerings. She spent nearly eight years in Goldman Sachs' equity trading team. A list published on Goldman Sachs' website indicated she was formally promoted to managing director on January 1st and departed the firm shortly thereafter.
