On November 10, 2025, the International Data Corporation (IDC) released its Q3 2025 China tablet market report, revealing a 10.9% year-on-year increase in shipments to 8.49 million units. Among the key players, Lenovo Group (00992.HK) stood out with strong performance in both consumer and commercial markets, boosting its market share from 6.8% in Q3 2024 to 10.5% and climbing to fourth place in the industry rankings. Meanwhile, the top three vendors—Huawei, Apple, and Xiaomi—all experienced a decline in market share compared to the same period last year.

IDC highlighted Lenovo’s particularly strong performance in the consumer segment, where its Y700 series led the sub-10-inch tablet category with superior performance and gaming capabilities. The newly launched Xiaoxin Pad 12.1 and Xiaoxin Pro GT further strengthened Lenovo’s product lineup in mainstream screen sizes. In the commercial sector, Lenovo maintained steady shipment growth, supported by its deep presence in education and enterprise markets.

Liu Yun, a senior analyst at IDC China, noted that as the impact of government subsidies weakens and some provinces tighten policies, China’s tablet market growth is expected to slow in Q4. However, the earlier policy-driven expansion of the user base, combined with continuous improvements in hardware performance, scenario-based applications, and software ecosystems, still provides growth potential for the market.

Globally, Lenovo also delivered impressive results. According to Omdia, worldwide tablet shipments grew for the seventh consecutive quarter in Q3, rising 5% year-on-year to 40 million units. Lenovo led the industry with a 23% surge in shipments, surpassing Huawei to reclaim third place (9.1% market share) and becoming the fastest-growing brand among the top five tablet vendors. Additionally, Lenovo dominated the Chromebook segment with a 54.6% year-on-year growth rate, reinforcing its strong competitiveness in the tablet space and the success of its AI-driven device strategy.

Lenovo’s rapid growth is closely tied to its AI-powered transformation of end-user devices. The company has actively embraced the global AI wave, collaborating with partners like NVIDIA and Intel to advance its tablets as next-generation "AI terminals."
