NBC Poll Shows Voters Dissatisfied With Trump's Economic Management

A recent NBC News poll reveals growing dissatisfaction among Americans with former President Trump's handling of the economy within his first year in office.

Conducted from October 25 to 28 with 1,000 voters surveyed, the poll found 63% of respondents believe Trump underperformed on economic issues.

Additionally, 65% said he failed to meet expectations in protecting middle-class interests, while 66% criticized his approach to inflation and cost-of-living concerns.

Trump's overall approval rating has dropped 4 percentage points since March, standing at 43%, with 55% disapproving of his job performance.

This discontent appears to be affecting views of Republican lawmakers. With one year until the 2026 midterms, the poll shows 50% prefer Democratic control of Congress versus 42% favoring Republicans - an 8-point Democratic lead. This gap has widened from a mere 1-point advantage (48%-47%) in March.

The poll results come as the U.S. government shutdown enters its second month, disrupting critical programs including SNAP food benefits.

The NBC survey also shows divided opinions on economic competence: 38% trust Republicans more on economic matters versus 37% favoring Democrats.

This aligns with CNBC's recent National Economic Survey showing increasingly negative public sentiment about the U.S. economy.
