Holiday-goers will soon be able to resume direct flights to Okinawa from Singapore with the launch of Singapore Airlines Group (SIA) budget carrier Scoot's new flight route come November.

Other new routes to arrive then include Medan and Labuan Bajo in Indonesia.

The airline on July 3 also announced the launch of new flight services to Da Nang and Nha Trang in Vietnam as well as Kota Bharu in Malaysia.

Scoot will operate flights to Da Nang three times weekly beginning Oct 20 via the Airbus A320, which will progressively increase to daily flights by December.

Meanwhile, flights twice a week to Nha Trang will commence from Nov 21 on the Embraer E190-E2, which will eventually also increase to daily flights in January 2026.

At the same time, flights to Kota Bahru are set to begin from Oct 26, also with the E190-E2.

One-way economy class fares start from $115 to Da Nang, $78 to Kota Bahru and $135 to Nha Trang.

Frequency ramp-up

With the launch of services to Kota Bharu, Da Nang and Nha Trang, Scoot will operate 115 weekly flights to 12 cities in Malaysia and 44 weekly flights to five cities in Vietnam.

In Southeast Asia, Scoot will increase flight frequencies across several destinations.

Flights to Jakarta, Indonesia will progressively increase from 25 to 28 times weekly from July.

In the Philippines, Scoot will see increased services to Clark from five to seven times weekly from August, Davao, from 10 to 12 times weekly from September and Manila, from 13 to 14 times weekly starting in September.

Seven of the weekly flights to the nation’s capital will be operated by the Boeing 787.

In Thailand, services to Hat Yai will also climb from 10 to 11 times weekly beginning in September.

In Australia, flights to Perth will progressively grow from 12 to 14 times weekly from August, while Sydney will see a progressive increase from 10 to 14 times weekly from July onwards.

Leslie Thng, Scoot chief executive officer (CEO): “We are excited to broaden Scoot’s network with these new destinations. At the same time, the increased flight frequencies to certain cities in the upcoming months leading up to the year-end holiday season will support higher demand.”

As at 4.45 pm, shares in SIA are trading three cents lower or 0.43% down at $7.02.
