Reports indicate that a payment application named "TenPayGo," associated with TENCENT (00700), has recently appeared on the Apple App Store. In response, the company has clarified that it is currently conducting a limited test of a "convenience assistant for life in China" aimed at international visitors, designed to offer a comprehensive suite of digital lifestyle services, including mobile payments.

It is understood that the app will enable international users to make direct payments at tens of millions of merchants across China that partner with WeChat Pay. The service remains in a restricted testing phase and is not yet widely available for public use.

Public information suggests that, compared to WeChat, TenPayGo significantly lowers the barrier to entry. Registration requires only an email address, and users can link Visa or Mastercard international credit cards or Apple Pay to make payments directly, eliminating the need for a mainland Chinese phone number or bank account. After linking a card, international users can generate a payment QR code for merchants to scan or can themselves scan a merchant's code to complete a transaction. The app also supports viewing transaction details.

According to the latest official statistics, the number of inbound travelers to China is projected to see significant growth by 2026, with a notable surge in the number of foreign visitors. Nationwide inspections recorded 21.333 million foreign national entries, marking a 22.3% year-on-year increase; among these, 8.315 million entries were visa-exempt, accounting for 77.9% of the total. Against the backdrop of this sustained rise in inbound travelers, the potential user base for such payment products is expanding, indicating strong market demand.
