In 2025, Yunnan Province has consistently adhered to the guidance of socialist core values, continuously improving organizational methods and innovating activity content. The province has steadfastly advanced the "Three Services to the Rural Areas" initiative, encompassing culture, science and technology, and health, treating it as a crucial measure to strengthen rural ideological and political work, enhance the ideological, moral, scientific, and cultural standards of farmers, and support rural revitalization.

By nurturing hearts with culture to invigorate a new ethos of civility, empowering development through science and technology, and safeguarding the baseline of happiness by serving public health, the initiative has shifted from providing "short-term services" to achieving "long-term rootedness." This has injected powerful momentum into the comprehensive revitalization of Yunnan's countryside, bringing a greater sense of fulfillment to the vast number of rural residents.

Three collectives, including the Shilin Yi Autonomous County New Era Civilization Practice Center, and three individuals, such as Professor Dong Wenyuan from the College of Forestry at Southwest Forestry University, were selected for the 2025 national list of outstanding teams and service role models in the "Three Services to the Rural Areas" campaign.

Enriching Spiritual Homelands Through Cultural Benefits

On June 27, 2025, the Provincial Publicity Department took the lead, jointly organizing the 2025 Yunnan Provincial "Three Services to the Rural Areas" centralized demonstration activity in Mengla County and Mohan Town, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, in collaboration with 15 units including the Provincial Department of Education (Provincial Education Working Committee), the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the Provincial Health Commission.

Participating provincial-level units and departments collectively donated project funds and materials worth over 6.95 million yuan. The event adopted a format combining an opening ceremony, centralized demonstrations, and mobile services, delivering diverse and beneficial services to border and ethnic regions.

During the opening ceremony, the Provincial Huadeng Theatre performed benefit shows at the Xiliyuan Ethnic Culture Square in Mengla County and the Xingfu Square in Mohanzhan Village, Mohan Town, presenting a variety of programs such as "Walking Together Towards a Happy China" and "Overflowing with Joy."

Following the centralized demonstrations, relevant departments and units formed small teams to conduct mobile service activities in Mengla County and Mohan Town. The team from the Provincial Publicity Department and the Provincial Office for Combating Illegal Publications organized the 2025 "Protecting Seedlings · Green Bookmark" campaign, donating books for the "National Youth Patriotic Reading Education Activity."

Activities included the "Watching Over the Cloud Heart" Yunnan Student Mental Health Lecture and the "Love Our National Defense, Strengthen Our Country with Me" themed speech event at Mohan Middle School. In collaboration with Beijing Normal University, activities such as the 2025 "Dream Realization Project" Rural Minors Mental Health Education Volunteer Service and "Good Journalists Enter Schools to Tell Good Stories" were held at Mengla County First Primary School.

The team from Yunnan Publishing Group funded the construction of digital classrooms at Mohan Middle School and Mohan Shuangyong Hope Primary School and donated books. Southwest Forestry University organized an ecological science exhibition and the "Ecological Civilization Enters Campus" activity.

Xishuangbanna Vocational and Technical College showcased Chinese tea culture, calligraphy, and other fine traditional Chinese cultures, highlighting cultural exchanges. The "One Family of the Chinese Nation, Jointly Building the Chinese Dream" summer social practice team from Kunming University of Technology conducted theoretical lectures and promoted Mandarin to the public, distributing daily necessities.

In cultural outreach activities, Yunnan Province carried out various cultural benefit initiatives, including the "Literary and Artistic Light Cavalry Grassroots Tour" volunteer service. The province established a database of local cultural talents and supported folk artists in establishing intangible cultural heritage workshops.

Artists and writers were organized for field research and creative work to build distinctive local cultural IPs for Yunnan. Throughout 2025, over 15,000 cultural benefit performances, such as the "Literary and Artistic Light Cavalry" and "Cultural Caravan," were held. More than 30,000 sessions of the "Five Popularizations" civilization practice activities were conducted, along with 74,100 public film screenings, benefiting over 15 million people.

Empowering Farmlands with Smarter Technology

At the site of the 2025 Yunnan Provincial "Three Services to the Rural Areas" centralized demonstration activity, the exhibition booth of the Provincial Association for Science and Technology was bustling with activity. Interactive exhibits like a "fruit piano" capable of playing simple melodies, a chessboard challenge against a robot, and a "fish-washing basin" creating intriguing water splashes attracted many young people.

"For this 'Three Services' event, we brought a set of self-developed science popularization resource kits, including fun teaching aids like 'reaction carts,' 'Hooke's rollers,' and 'cable-stayed bridges,'" said Liao Yunlong, a science explainer from the Yunnan Science and Technology Museum. "These are carefully designed based on primary school science curricula. We hope these hands-on activities will help children understand scientific knowledge more intuitively and spark their interest in science."

The mobile science exhibition vehicle served as a roving science museum at the event, providing local residents, especially youth, with a platform for close contact with and understanding of science, allowing the seeds of science to take root in border areas.

In science and technology outreach, Yunnan continuously innovated in forms and mechanisms to focus more funding, projects, talent, services, and resources on the main battlefield of rural revitalization. Efforts were intensified to integrate and channel scientific and technological resources downwards.

Resources from agricultural technical associations, science and technology backyards, science and technology commissioners, and experts from agricultural universities were coordinated to provide precise technical guidance aligned with the needs of characteristic industries like grain, tea, medicinal herbs, and livestock farming.

The application of smart agriculture was promoted, expanding the use of drone plant protection and IoT monitoring to drive agricultural digitalization and intelligent transformation. Focus was placed on key areas such as improved seed breeding, green cultivation, and pest and disease control to accelerate the implementation of scientific and technological achievements.

Training in planting techniques, breeding techniques, and agricultural informatization was conducted through a combination of online instruction and offline practical sessions to strengthen the local pool of practical talent.

The province innovated in science popularization demonstration activities, deepening the touring exhibitions of "science popularization vehicles" and organizing interactive science events around themes like food security and ecological conservation.

The role of science and technology venues was fully utilized by promoting the opening of science education bases and science museums to rural residents and organizing research and study activities for rural youth. The "Yunling Agricultural Science 110" service platform was leveraged to improve the model of scientific and technological services connecting experts with grassroots levels.

Currently, over 11,220 experts (including science and technology commissioners, and "Three Regions" science and technology personnel) have joined the "Yunling Agricultural Science 110" platform, conducting 28,984 offline services, 10,544 online services, and organizing 16,598 training sessions.

Nearly a hundred university teachers and students formed an education system service group, providing on-site services like expert consultations and agricultural and forestry technical guidance, while distributing learning materials, books, medicines, agricultural supplies, and other materials to local residents and primary and secondary school students.

The centralized demonstration activity also marked the beginning of the 2025 university students' summer "Three Services to the Rural Areas" social practice. Various volunteer service teams from over 90 universities across the province conducted in-depth social practices in different regions during the summer, making "frequent and enduring service in rural areas" the norm, collectively contributing youthful energy to writing a new chapter for Yunnan in the Chinese path to modernization.

The "Three Services" initiative delivered practical knowledge, useful materials, and considerate services directly to the people, receiving widespread praise from the public.

Channeling Resources Downward for a Healthier Foundation

At the site of the 2025 Yunnan Provincial "Three Services to the Rural Areas" centralized demonstration activity, the Communist Youth League team launched the "Yunnan Youth Vision Protection Plan." Collaborating with ophthalmology hospital experts, they provided vision health screenings and free eye disease consultations for local students.

Simultaneously, the Youth Mental Health Month activity was initiated, involving the 12355 Youth Service Hotline and university psychology clubs in mental health knowledge promotion. Coordinated donations of projects and materials totaled over 3 million yuan in value.

An expert team from Yunnan Third People's Hospital organized teaching consultations and ward rounds for specialized departments such as obstetrics, radiology, pathology, and cardiology at county-level hospitals like the Mengla County People's Hospital, which they support. They also conducted collective free consultations for patients with local common and difficult-to-treat diseases.

The Dai Medicine College of West Yunnan University of Applied Sciences organized teachers and students to conduct Dai medicine science popularization and promotion, providing Dai medicine-themed free consultation services.

In health outreach activities, Yunnan implemented the "provincial management, county-level use" mechanism, coordinating key personnel from tertiary hospitals to provide stationed support at county-level hospitals. Group-based counterpart assistance and the recruitment of senior "silver-haired" doctors were deepened, with county-level backbone doctors assigned for fixed-point service in townships and regular service in villages.

Mobile medical services were carried out, organizing touring medical care, free consultations, and follow-up services for chronic diseases. Focus was placed on key groups like the elderly and chronic disease patients, strengthening standardized management of common diseases and promoting traditional Chinese medicine services such as acupuncture and massage, as well as ethnic medicine services like Dai, Yi, and Tibetan medicine.

The "Seven Special Actions" for Patriotic Health were continuously advanced. All 129 counties (cities, districts) in the province met the national standards for sanitary counties (cities). All township health centers and community health service centers in the province achieved national standards for service capacity, significantly enhancing grassroots medical capabilities.

On June 25, 2026, the national "Three Services to the Rural Areas" Yunnan centralized demonstration activity is scheduled to commence in Huaping County, Lijiang City. From cultural benefits and technological empowerment to serving public health, the "Three Services" initiative, characterized by its enduring presence and consistent benefits in rural areas, has become a popular project deeply welcomed by the people, continuously infusing powerful momentum into the comprehensive revitalization of the countryside.
