HAITONG UT (01905) shares climbed more than 6% in early trading. As of the time of writing, they were up 5.42% at HK$0.875, with a turnover of HK$5.8564 million. Reports suggest that GTHT is considering a privatization of its subsidiary, HAITONG UT, as part of plans to integrate its international operations.

On August 7, Guotai Junan International announced that GTHT Financial Holdings plans to privatize and delist Guotai Junan International at HK$3 per share. According to foreign media reports cited by news outlets, GTHT is exploring ways to consolidate its overseas business, with a potential privatization of HAITONG UT being one of the options under review.

HAITONG UT primarily engages in finance leasing, purchasing physical assets and leasing them out to various industries. Privatizing HAITONG UT would likely help GTHT merge its overlapping overseas operations into a single listed entity. This move also aligns with the broader strategy of consolidating China's securities industry, aiming to better compete with Wall Street giants and international firms.
