Fuyuan Dongji Airport Launches Official Air Cargo Operations

On August 28, the inaugural flight operated by Chengdu Airlines, flight EU1850, departed smoothly from Fuyuan Dongji Airport. The aircraft carried local specialties including cranberries, cold-water fish, and eco-friendly rice, with shipments heading to Harbin and Chengdu. This milestone officially marked the commencement of air cargo services at the airport.

This development represents a critical move by Heilongjiang Province to optimize its eastern border logistics network and enhance the multi-modal transportation system spanning water, land, and air. The new service effectively fills the gap in aviation logistics for the eastern border region of Heilongjiang and holds significant strategic importance for the province's broader initiative to open up its northern passage to international trade.

The air cargo services at Fuyuan Dongji Airport leverage spare capacity from existing passenger flight routes. By prioritizing passenger travel while scientifically activating underutilized aviation resources, the initiative achieves cost reduction and efficiency gains in logistics operations. This innovative approach completely breaks through the region's previous over-reliance on water transport in eastern Heilongjiang, which was subject to seasonal and climatic constraints. It dramatically lowers long-distance transshipment costs and effectively addresses the shortcomings in regional logistics infrastructure development.

"Although our airport's air cargo service was only officially launched today, we had already received multiple pre-orders from businesses in advance, including local specialties such as cold-water fish, eco-friendly rice, and cranberries, totaling over 200 kilograms. Air freight can significantly compress transportation time and greatly satisfy customer requirements," said Wang Chenyuan, Manager of the Transportation Services Department at Fuyuan Dongji Airport Management Co., Ltd.

With the launch of air cargo operations at Fuyuan Dongji Airport, Heilongjiang Province has enriched its array of transport channels to Russia, establishing a dual-corridor system combining water and air transport. This provides an alternative aerial route for cross-border e-commerce between China and Russia, as well as for the import and export of live aquatic products. The development strengthens Heilongjiang's locational advantages within the Northeast Asian logistics landscape, perfects the logistics framework for the Russian Far East, and empowers the province's northward opening strategy.
