Cloudflare Introduces AI Wallet Infrastructure Using x402 Protocol for Micropayment System

Cloudflare (NET.US) has officially launched Cloudflare Wallets, a programmable wallet designed specifically for AI agents, marking the cloud infrastructure giant's strategic entry into the AI economy layer. The product was announced on Tuesday, with its core logic centered on restructuring the business model of intelligent agents through stablecoin payments.

Users can immediately obtain account identifiers, but full payment features such as storing stablecoins and receiving payments will be rolled out later. The strategic intent is to streamline the identity verification process for AI agents, enabling them to pay for API calls and digital content via micropayments, thus creating a closed loop from identity authentication to value exchange.

On the technical front, the wallet will be deeply integrated with the recently announced Monetization Gateway, built on the foundation of Coinbase's (COIN.US) x402 protocol. According to Woofun AI's compilation, Cloudflare software engineer Will Papper noted that the x402 protocol allows users to easily test APIs without needing an account, enabling intelligent agents to trial various new options with almost zero friction, significantly lowering the interaction barrier.

Media outlets contacted Cloudflare regarding the specific timeline and details of the product launch, but received no response by the time of publication. This silence may suggest that the company is still refining its rollout pace internally, but the race for AI-native payment infrastructure has already accelerated substantially.
