The 2025 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference is being held from October 16 to 18 in the Expo Park in Huangpu District, Shanghai. Matthew Cobb, Professor Emeritus at the University of Manchester and author of "The Brain Book," attended and spoke at the event.

Cobb expressed his pleasure at seeing a growing awareness that ecological issues are also related to AI, as the operation of AI requires electricity and substantial water resources for cooling chips and processors to ensure the proper operation of data centers. He emphasized the need to guarantee that the functioning of AI does not disrupt normal food production or result in environmental pollution.

He noted that while AI is very reliable for simple task processing, problems can arise when employing large language models for decision-making and placing 100% trust in them.

Cobb warned that often, the results produced by AI can be fabricated, advocating for a cautious approach to the utilization of AI. He asserted that humans should learn to apply AI more effectively rather than relying on it completely.

The 2025 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference is jointly organized by the World Green Design Organization (WGDO) and SINA Corp, with support from the Beijing Office of the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation (IFRS Foundation), the Beijing Representative Office of the WGDO, and the Huangpu District People's Government of Shanghai.
