During IFA 2026 in Berlin, Tuya Inc. unveiled its latest AI home companion robot, Doova, following the launch of its pet companion robot Aura. Positioned as a new generation of AI household partner, Doova moves beyond the conventional tool-oriented functions of security devices and home robots, specifically focusing on scenarios of seniors living alone. It aims to help elderly individuals enjoy a smart lifestyle through proactive care, warm companionship, and seamless integration with a full range of smart devices.

In terms of design, Doova adopts a soft, all-curved aesthetic that departs from the cold, mechanical feel of traditional robots. Its body height is tailored to match interaction angles whether users are standing or sitting, while a high-definition large screen paired with dynamic facial expressions makes conversations more personable. The robot is equipped with LDS lidar, a 4-microphone sound source localization system, and visual AI posture recognition algorithms. Should an elderly person slip or encounter another emergency, simply calling out "Hey Tuya, Help" triggers Doova to quickly lock onto the location via sound source positioning, autonomously navigate to the individual, and assess their physical posture. If assistance is required, it promptly contacts family members.

In leisure time, Doova can engage its owner in conversation, provide emotional support, and play audio or video content. As a daily life assistant, it helps guide users through smart appliance operations and interprets complex bills or letters. For health management, the robot delivers reminders for medication, weather updates, and schedule alerts, while also enabling fun interactive games. Over time, Doova learns to better understand its owner, offering suggestions on meal planning, gardening care, and outfit coordination. Future updates will include value-added services such as whole-home autonomous item finding, alleviating the anxiety of misplaced belongings for seniors.

Doova breaks away from traditional wall-following security patrol routes and surveillance-like monitoring. Instead, it adopts a node-oriented strategy that covers room centers. It sequentially visits the center of each space to perform 360-degree patrol sweeps and automatically generates safety reports sent directly to a mobile app, allowing elderly users to keep track of their entire home's status at any time. Leveraging Tuya's mature AI+IoT ecosystem, Doova serves as a central control hub for the smart home. With a simple voice command, users can link the robot with a gateway to coordinate lighting, curtains, kitchen and bathroom appliances, and other devices. This reduces operational complexity, making AI-powered living easily accessible to older adults.
