New industries are providing a broad spectrum of career paths for young individuals. The foundation of employment lies within the industrial sector. This year, traditional industries are accelerating their upgrades while emerging sectors are rapidly expanding, giving rise to a host of new positions and professions.

A series of reports exploring how employment is rooted in industrial development has been launched. Reporters have visited production lines and educational institutions to investigate the new opportunities that industrial growth brings to the job market. According to data from human resources departments, the demand for positions in the local artificial intelligence sector has more than tripled year-on-year. Where are these jobs located, and why has the growth been so rapid?

Wuhan's Optics Valley is home to over 800 AI enterprises. Entering a humanoid robot innovation center established just over a year ago, one is immediately struck by an atmosphere of innovation. In various simulation scenarios and testing zones, different types of robots are busy learning tasks like making coffee, carrying trays, and moving goods. Guiding them in their busy work are young people who have recently joined the workforce.

Among the many young employees, a 23-year-old named Xu Mengfan was introduced. She is now a skilled humanoid robot trainer. Two years ago, with limited formal education, she felt uncertain about her career path. As her internship period approached, she found her direction.

Driven by a strong interest in the emerging field of artificial intelligence, Xu Mengfan chose to join a data technology company to learn about AI data annotation. Upon graduating with a college diploma last year, she coincidentally encountered the establishment of the Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center and successfully applied for a position there. She remarked on her fortune in finding a role at the center, which offered numerous job openings. Starting from the most accessible trainer position, she became proficient within about three months.

Another 23-year-old, Xu Shantao, also made a career switch. He studied tourism in university; after graduation, he worked in software sales and ran a bubble tea shop before developing an interest in smart facilities. Consequently, he enrolled in courses to learn mechanical maintenance and general robotics knowledge and is now an operations and maintenance engineer. He expressed a desire not to miss the opportunity presented by the rapid development of AI, especially given his youth.

As long as individuals are willing to learn and dare to act, they can find opportunities for growth. The booming artificial intelligence industry is opening up extensive employment prospects for young people. The head of the innovation center noted that as more embodied AI companies conduct training there, the need is growing not only for specialized talent who can write code and develop programs but also for operations personnel who assist with daily training and provide basic data. The center plans to procure an additional 100 robots, which will inevitably lead to even more job openings in the future.

Liu Chuanhou, Chief Operating Officer of the Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, stated that alongside software development engineers, the company also has significant demand for basic positions such as data collectors and annotation specialists.

AI-Generated Comic Series Gain Popularity, Attracting Talent to New Frontiers

It's not just embodied intelligence; in Wuhan's Optics Valley, artificial intelligence is empowering numerous industries, continuously giving rise to new scenarios and business models. Along the ever-extending industrial chain, more specialized new professions and positions are emerging.

A visit to an AI-generated comic series production company revealed that last year, only about 20 people worked on comic series in its 400-plus square meter hall. Now, the space is fully occupied, with nearly a hundred staff in related roles.

Twenty-one-year-old Lü Ke joined the company just days ago but is already considered a veteran employee, having been with the firm for nearly a year. His current role involves developing AI video production tools, which is a technical position. Lü Ke is a senior at Hubei University of Science and Technology who began teaching himself programming during his studies. In the latter half of last year, he started an internship at this company, getting acquainted with comic series production. He encountered a surge in orders shortly after joining, which provided ample hands-on experience and accelerated his skill development. Recently, he received an early employment offer.

Another new hire, Ma Haoran, transitioned from a short-video production company. He shared that he enjoys creative work and finds that AI production makes it easier to realize his ideas. The explosive growth of the comic series industry has intensified the shortage of production talent. The company launched an all-in-one AI creation platform and began recruiting creators online.

Company executive Liu Jing explained that creators simply need to click a mouse; the process from script to storyboard to final product is fully automated, allowing individuals to become proficient quickly after minimal training. Liu Jing added that after receiving orders online, creators can work on company-assigned themes or submit their own works for consideration. This flexible collaboration model has attracted many participants.

It is understood that online creators participating with this company are now located across the country, including stay-at-home parents, university students, and flexible workers.

Establishing Specialized Entrepreneurial Communities to Foster Collaborative Growth Among AI Professionals

Currently, Hubei's artificial intelligence industry scale exceeds 160 billion yuan. Faced with a growing workforce of practitioners, the local area is creating specialized entrepreneurial communities to enable startups to grow together.

A visit to a distinctive entrepreneurial community in Wuhan's Optics Valley revealed its setup. Why is it called a community? Because each room houses a company, and they share common meeting rooms and open office areas. Here, they are not only neighbors but also part of each other's development and innovation supply chains.

In one of the offices, entrepreneur Zhang Ao was met. He moved into the specialized community last October. In just over half a year, his company has grown from 2 to 8 employees, and its business has expanded into the research and development of smart devices combining software and hardware. He noted that the workspace is provided free of charge, and the government offers financial support such as interest-free loans, which is a significant incentive for startups.

Within the specialized community, neighbors are often upstream or downstream partners in the industrial chain. In February, when Zhang Ao's team encountered difficulties overcoming a specific challenge related to an intelligent agent framework, a company just ten meters away generously provided underlying technical support.

Nurtured by the specialized community, many entrepreneurial teams have grown from small beginnings. One company, founded by three individuals and focused on developing intelligent agent software for manufacturing, has now expanded its team to over 50 people. Not long ago, they also created an open-source website shared across the internet, offering a communication platform for entrepreneurs and providing free AI learning materials.

The负责人 stated that by opening up their code and achievements, companies can collaborate and discuss together, attracting and motivating more people to participate in the wave of AI and artificial intelligence, thereby fostering more innovation and creating more jobs.

Recently, several universities in Hubei are comprehensively promoting general AI education, developing and opening up new AI application scenarios, and creating more growth platforms for entrepreneurs. Lu Wenyan, Director of the Hubei Provincial Labor Employment Service Center, stated that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, efforts will continue to expand new complementary AI-human job positions, optimize job matching methods, improve the level and equity of public employment services, and allow everyone's value to be more fully realized.
