H&R Block shares surged 15.77% over the past 24 hours, driven by a powerful rally in extended trading after the company released its fiscal 2026 fourth-quarter results. The stock was last seen trading sharply higher, as the tax preparation firm reported financial figures that handily beat Wall Street expectations.

The company posted adjusted earnings of $2.38 per share for the quarter, easily topping the analyst consensus of $2.21. Quarterly revenue climbed to $1.14 billion, surpassing the $1.12 billion estimate. For the full fiscal year, adjusted earnings per share came in at $5.31, above the $5.16 estimate, on revenue of $3.95 billion. These results were bolstered by a higher net average charge in its U.S. assisted tax preparation business and growth in its international and Wave segments.

Investors also cheered the company’s outlook for fiscal 2027, which was far more optimistic than analysts had projected. H&R Block expects revenue between $4.11 billion and $4.16 billion, compared to the $4.05 billion consensus, and adjusted earnings per share of $6.04 to $6.24, easily exceeding the $5.86 analyst estimate. Adding to the positive sentiment, the board of directors approved a 10% increase in the quarterly dividend to $0.46 per share, marking the ninth consecutive annual increase and reinforcing the company’s commitment to returning capital to shareholders.
