The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) announced on Thursday the completion of the country's first small satellite constellation, with plans to launch the five-satellite cluster in October aboard the "Nuri" launch vehicle. An official pre-delivery review was conducted on Thursday.

KASA stated that these five satellites, scheduled for launch this year, are part of a broader South Korean satellite project. The initiative aims to deploy a total of 10 lightweight satellites to conduct high-precision observations of the Korean Peninsula and its surrounding maritime areas.

These five satellites represent South Korea's first batch of Earth-observation satellites built using commercially available off-the-shelf components in a mass-production process. The country had previously launched a prototype satellite for this series in April 2024.

KASA indicated that this satellite batch demonstrates the continued advancement of South Korea's satellite manufacturing capabilities and pledged to enhance the competitiveness of the nation's aerospace industry.
