Air China’s 2025 ESG Report Shows Record 3.01 Million Safe Flight Hours, 4% Cut in Carbon Intensity and Passenger Satisfaction of 88.1

Air China has published its 2025 Sustainability & ESG Report, detailing the national flag carrier’s performance across safety, environmental and social metrics for the year ended 31 December 2025.

Key operational and safety results • Safe flight hours reached 3.01 million, up 2.1% year-on-year, with an accountable incident rate of 0.01 per 10,000 flight hours. • On-time performance improved to 91.78%, while the flight execution rate held at 99.2%. • Passenger throughput rose to 161 million, and Phoenix Miles membership exceeded 100 million. Passenger satisfaction averaged 88.1 points.

Environmental performance • Group carbon-dioxide emissions intensity fell 4% to 909.6 grams per tonne-kilometre, supported by 158,800 tonnes of fuel saved and full (100%) ground power substitution for APUs. • Total Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions were 28.44 million tonnes of CO₂-equivalent. • Sustainable Aviation Fuel usage reached 1,501 tonnes; the airline executed its first green-electricity transaction and pushed new rooftop photovoltaic projects. • Ground-vehicle electrification climbed to 43%; more than 90% of new vehicles introduced in 2025 were electric. • All on-board cutlery transitioned to biodegradable materials, completing the plastic-reduction drive launched in 2022.

Social metrics and governance • Total workforce stood at 107,795, with a 100% labour-contract signing rate and 100% social-insurance coverage. • Two work-related fatalities were recorded; work-injury lost days totalled 20,197. • RMB 465 million was invested in environmental projects, and RMB 466.20 million was channelled into 18 targeted rural-revitalisation initiatives. • The board continued to oversee ESG matters, approving the report in March 2026.

Strategic outlook for 2026 Air China plans to strengthen its three-year safety action plan, further cut carbon emissions via fleet optimisation and expanded renewable-energy use, and deepen digital transformation to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience as it enters China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period.
