S&P Global (SPGI) shares plummeted 6.33% during pre-market trading on Tuesday, as a weaker-than-expected full-year earnings outlook overshadowed the company's quarterly beat.

The financial data and analytics giant reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of $4.83 per share and revenue of $4.15 billion, both surpassing analyst estimates. However, S&P Global issued a 2026 adjusted EPS guidance of $17.50 to $17.75, significantly below the consensus estimate of approximately $18.30 to $18.87. This sharp guidance cut triggered a sell-off, as investors reacted to the dimmer profit expectations for the remainder of the year.

The company cited the spin-off of its Mobility Global division and ongoing investments as factors in the reduced outlook, despite record results in its Ratings and Indices businesses. The disappointing forecast reversed the stock's recent gains, which had been buoyed by a wave of analyst upgrades in preceding weeks.
