Stryker (SYK) shares tumbled 7.77% over the past 24 hours, with the steepest losses occurring in after-hours trading on Thursday following the release of the company’s second-quarter earnings report.

The medical technology giant reported adjusted earnings per share of $3.69, beating the consensus estimate of $3.49, and revenue of $6.6 billion, slightly above expectations. However, investor focus shifted to the company’s full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance of $14.95 to $15.10, which was largely in line with the FactSet consensus of $14.97 and lacked an upside surprise. Moreover, sales in Stryker’s largest segment, medical surgery and neurotechnology, reached $3.6 billion, missing analysts’ estimates of $3.72 billion.

The negative reaction also reflects lingering concerns over a cybersecurity incident earlier in the year that disrupted operations and caused a first-quarter miss. Despite a recent upgrade from UBS, the combination of tepid guidance and a key segment miss triggered heavy selling pressure in the post-market session, erasing earlier gains and driving the stock sharply lower.
