By the ancient canal, a vibrant city is emerging, showcasing the unique cultural charm of Beijing's sub-center to the world. Recently, an experiential tour organized by Beijing authorities explored new cultural landmarks in the sub-center, including Hongxiang 1979 Cultural and Creative Park, Xinlu Canal Cultural Park, Canal West Bank, and Songzhuang Chenyuan. The tour group, composed of media representatives, government officials, influencers, and university students, witnessed the cultural vitality and high-quality development of the area.

The first stop was Hongxiang 1979 Cultural and Creative Park, the first municipal-level cultural industrial park in Tongzhou District. Transformed from an old factory, it retains some industrial elements while evolving into a low-density garden-style creative hub. Highlights include Yuanji Bookstore, known for its focus on classic literature and humanities education, and Rongjin Culture’s Guofeng Pavilion, which exhibits intangible cultural heritage crafts like cloisonné, traditional rubbings, and tie-dye.

Next, Xinlu Canal Cultural Park, repurposed from a former foundry, integrates culture, art, and technology under the themes of urban memory, low-carbon sustainability, and digital innovation. The park supports small cultural enterprises with incubation services, consulting, and resource networking.

The 1.3-kilometer-long Canal West Bank project has become a trendy hotspot for young people, blending coffee shops, dining, art, and retail. A boat ride along the canal offers a unique mix of historical charm and modern urban energy.

The final destination, Chenyuan Traditional Culture Eco-Park, features two Hui-style ancient houses dedicated to immersive experiences in classical Chinese studies, music, calligraphy, and art. Its white walls, black tiles, and intricate carvings left a lasting impression on visitors.

This year, the experiential tour has explored various facets of Beijing’s culture—from the "Me and the Temple of Earth" book fair in September to the 2025 GT World Challenge in October, and now the sub-center’s cultural landmarks in November. The initiative continues to document and promote Beijing’s dynamic growth through firsthand experiences.
