China's foreign trade tops 30 trillion yuan in first seven months, with electric vehicle exports surging over 71%

In the first seven months of 2026, China's foreign trade in goods continued a strong growth trajectory, with total value reaching 30.13 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.3%, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs on August 7. Exports amounted to 17.44 trillion yuan, up 14%, while imports stood at 12.69 trillion yuan, rising 22%, with import growth continuing to outpace exports.

During this period, China's exports of electromechanical products reached 11.12 trillion yuan, a 21.2% increase, accounting for 63.8% of total exports, up 3.8 percentage points from the same period last year. Among these, green and low-carbon products such as electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and wind power generators saw growth of 71.2%, 35.8%, and 34.8%, respectively. Exports of 3D printers, industrial robots, and ships reached 11.2 billion yuan, 7.34 billion yuan, and 268.14 billion yuan, respectively, with increases of 110%, 13.2%, and 32.7%.

China has become one of the fastest-rising nations in global innovation. The deep integration of technological and industrial innovation is continuously transforming into new advantages for foreign trade competitiveness and new drivers of growth. In July, China's exports of high-tech products rose by more than 50%, contributing nearly 60% of the export growth, while exports of green and low-carbon products like electric vehicles and lithium batteries have maintained double-digit growth for 17 consecutive months.
