Doosan Group has unveiled plans to invest roughly 970 billion won to expand production capacity for copper-clad laminates (CCL), a critical material used in AI chips, according to company sources.

The conglomerate will allocate 420 billion won toward expanding its CCL production lines for optical modules at domestic facilities in South Korea. In addition, 550 billion won has been earmarked for constructing a new CCL plant in China, with output targeted at AI accelerators and network switches.

Starting in 2028, Doosan intends to ramp up production volumes from its newly expanded facilities in both South Korea and China. The company's CCL products have been utilized by Nvidia since 2024, and the business unit recorded sales of 1.9 trillion won last year, marking an 86% year-on-year surge.
