Russia's ambassador to New Delhi has declared readiness to supply India with all the oil it needs to satisfy its energy requirements, while dismissing a US sanctions plan targeting Moscow's petroleum sales as a pressure maneuver.

The proposed American legislation, crafted by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, would grant President Donald Trump authority to impose 100% tariffs on the top five buyers of Russian crude and natural gas, as well as the top five nations assisting Moscow in evading energy-related sanctions.

In an interview with Asian News International, Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov stated, "We stand prepared to provide India with whatever oil volumes it requires. Unfortunately, those nations imposing sanctions and tariffs are resorting to coercive tactics rather than genuine cooperation, and they cannot offer India a more favorable petroleum deal than we can."

The sanctions bill, which cleared the Senate last month, now faces mounting opposition in the US House of Representatives and may not advance until at least the November midterm elections, given concerns that it could broaden Trump's tariff authority and drive up oil prices.

Alipov cautioned that without Russian oil, markets would face severe disruption, particularly in light of the US-Iran conflict and energy transport challenges through the Strait of Hormuz. He warned, "If Russian oil is excluded, the world will not be able to cope. Energy markets cannot withstand such consequences. Russian oil will continue flowing to markets in India and other nations. We are committed to supplying India with oil, and India is equally interested in purchasing it."
