China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed a press conference on Wednesday, responding to a question about former U.S. President Donald Trump's recent remarks suggesting Washington may impose sanctions on Chinese banks that continue business with Iran, in an effort to further isolate Tehran.

Lin stated that regarding the situation in Iran, China maintains that dialogue and negotiation are the only viable path to resolving the issue. He emphasized that China's opposition to unlawful unilateral sanctions has been consistent and unequivocal.

When pressed on the potential impact on Bank of China, Lin reiterated that the Chinese government firmly opposes any illegal unilateral measures and will take necessary actions to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and financial institutions.

The spokesperson also called on all parties to adhere to international law and the basic norms of international relations, urging constructive engagement over confrontation to promote peace and stability in the region.
