Young Cable Car Maintenance Worker's Unique Holiday Duty at Huangshan

During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period, Anhui's Huangshan Scenic Area welcomed peak tourist flows. While visitors wandered among the peculiar pines, strange rocks, and sea of clouds, a group of young cable car maintenance workers stood guard day and night, silently protecting this "safety artery" to the mountain peak from heights of hundreds of meters. Wang Qinye, a post-2000s generation worker, is among them.

**Nighttime "Health Check"**

As night falls and the Yuping Cable Car concludes its daily operations, Wang Qinye's most important work of the day—nighttime maintenance—has just begun. Safely pushing over 80 empty cable cars into the depot and systematically checking door structures is merely the prelude. Subsequently, he and his fellow post-2000s colleague Zhao Qihang fasten their safety belts and board the maintenance vehicle, disappearing into the pitch-black night.

Mountain winds are fierce. The maintenance vehicle slowly ascends along the cable line spanning over 2,600 meters with an elevation difference of nearly 900 meters. On support towers nearly 40 meters above ground, Wang Qinye holds a high-intensity flashlight, conducting detailed "health checks" on critical components such as support wheels and wheel assemblies. Zhao Qihang seamlessly coordinates by recording and passing tools. Flashlight beams interweave with moonlight as the two young workers communicate and collaborate amid the howling mountain winds.

**From "Intern" to "Triple-Certified Technician"**

When Wang Qinye joined in 2020, he was the youngest intern on the team. Today, he has grown into a professional technician holding maintenance, operation, and senior electrician certificates. The "3-minute troubleshooting method" he helped develop has been incorporated into the cable car emergency manual, and several papers he authored have gained industry recognition.

In Zhao Qihang's eyes, this peer "mentor" is experienced and serves as a role model for learning the business. "We've always had a tradition of 'experienced guiding newcomers' here, and this night inspection is also a vivid practical lesson," Zhao Qihang says.

**Day and Night Rotation, Steadfast at Posts**

"What we do is the most practical work: tightening every screw, carefully inspecting steel cables... ensuring tourists can visit safely and return home happily." Although he must begin morning inspections at 4:50 AM before the first batch of tourists ascends the mountain, Wang Qinye has a profound understanding of his position: "To build our country better, each of us should guard our posts well and protect tourist safety. I believe this is also contributing our strength."

At Huangshan Scenic Area, there are nearly a hundred cable car maintenance workers like Wang Qinye. They rotate day and night shifts, using silent dedication to ensure every visitor's peace of mind when traversing the sea of clouds and crossing valleys.
