Zijin Gold International's stock surged 5.02% in intraday trading on Friday, extending its recent rally as multiple positive factors continued to drive investor sentiment.
The gains were supported by gold prices holding firmly above the US$4,100 level, while the U.S. Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates steady at its July meeting eased concerns over rate hikes weighing on precious metals. Additionally, the market reacted favorably to the company's strategic adjustment regarding its acquisition plans: instead of pursuing a full acquisition of Allied Gold for approximately CA$5.5 billion, Zijin Gold International opted to subscribe for a 9.2% stake via a CA$416.6 million private placement, securing quality overseas gold mine interests at a significantly lower capital cost.
The broader gold sector also traded higher, with peers such as Zijin Mining, Lingbao Gold, and Chinagoldintl recording gains. The company is scheduled to release its interim results on August 14, with the market anticipating earnings upside driven by elevated gold prices.
