Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed on Wednesday a compact handheld device named Meta Charm, designed to operate the company's new Muse AI assistant, extending Meta's hardware ambitions beyond its highly successful smart glasses.

The AI gadget is roughly the size of an Apple AirPods charging case, featuring a touchscreen of about 2 inches and built-in 5G connectivity. Meta stated that Charm is slated to ship during the December holiday shopping season, though no pricing has been disclosed.

"We've packed the entire Muse experience into a device that can hang on your keychain and is always ready to converse with you," Zuckerberg said at Meta Connect, the company's annual device event held in Menlo Park, California.

Meta also showcased its first virtual reality headset slim enough to resemble standard eyewear, along with a pair of smart glasses without a camera, aimed at easing growing privacy concerns over AI devices capturing videos and photos without consent.

The company has additionally expanded its viral Muse AI assistant across its entire smart glasses product line, introducing new capabilities such as controlling a computer on the user's behalf and integrating with retailers and service platforms including Walmart (WMT.O), Best Buy (BBY.N), and Gap (GAP.N).
