Apple TV+ Shatters Records with 81 Emmy Nods; 'Severance' Season 2 Dominates with 27 Nominations

Apple revealed its streaming platform Apple TV+ achieved unprecedented recognition at the 77th Emmy Awards, securing 81 nominations spanning 14 original productions. The psychological thriller "Severance" Season 2 emerged as this year's most-nominated series with 27 nods, while workplace comedy "The Studio" set a new benchmark for freshman comedies by amassing 23 nominations.

"Severance" Season 2 garnered critical acclaim, earning nominations for Outstanding Drama Series alongside nine performance categories. "The Studio" similarly dominated with its 23 nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series.

Notably, Apple TV+ stands as the sole platform boasting multiple contenders in both Outstanding Comedy and Drama Series categories. With 31 acting nominations, it outperformed all competing studios this season.

Zack Van Amburg, Apple's Global Head of Video, applauded the creative teams: "Every Apple employee celebrates the extraordinary talent behind these nominations. 'Severance,' 'The Studio,' alongside remarkable series 'Shrinking' and 'Slow Horses,' have profoundly connected with audiences worldwide. We're grateful to the Television Academy for honoring diverse storytelling."

Fellow executive Jamie Erlicht highlighted the cultural significance: "This milestone year reflects Apple's commitment to groundbreaking narratives. These honors celebrate daring storytelling, exceptional performances, and masterful craftsmanship that resonate across global cultures."

The Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on September 14, 2025, with Creative Arts honors announced September 6-7. Apple TV+ content has now accumulated 580 awards and 2,761 nominations historically, including Emmy-winning "Ted Lasso" and Oscar Best Picture recipient "CODA."
