By taking three days off before and after National Day, travelers can create a 16-day extended holiday. According to MEITUAN Travel data released on September 22, this year's National Day holiday travel peak is expected to last from September 27 to October 12. As of September 22, 2025 National Day tourism bookings have increased 73% year-over-year, with post-2000s young travelers accounting for 62% of bookings, and high-end hotel bookings surging 115% compared to the same period last year.

The top 10 destinations with the highest National Day tourism growth rates are: Hainan, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, Guangdong, Tibet, Anhui, Gansu, Sichuan, and Qinghai. As of September 19, Yunnan's National Day holiday tourism bookings increased 94%, with five-star hotel bookings jumping 130% year-over-year.

"Yunnan Flying Over Jungle Adventure Park" has become a popular attraction in Yunnan during the National Day holiday, with the integration of culture, tourism, and sports attracting more visitors from other regions. Travelers from Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, and Xi'an are particularly fond of visiting Yunnan during National Day.

The extended holiday has sparked multiple travel patterns including long-distance trips to other provinces, short weekend getaways, and immersive local experiences. According to MEITUAN Travel's predictions for post-2000s National Day holiday trends, cultural heritage tours, border tours, stargazing tours, high-altitude adventures, ethnic minority costume experiences, learning crafts from intangible cultural heritage inheritors, staying at hotels near morning markets, exploring industrial heritage sites, historical costume photography at ancient buildings, and attending concerts and music festivals have become new holiday travel trends.

The extended holiday enables more people to embark on journeys around China. Border scenic areas are transforming from geographical boundaries into tourism brands. MEITUAN Travel data shows that as of September 22, searches for "border scenic areas" increased 40% year-over-year, with Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Yunnan, Guangxi, Jilin, and Inner Mongolia becoming popular provinces for border and port tourism. Travelers from Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Xi'an, and Nanjing show the highest search interest. Xinjiang's National Day tourism bookings increased 103%.

Border tourism has boosted nearby hotel reservations. MEITUAN Travel data shows that since September 1, searches for "hotels near Yunnan Mohan Port" increased 417% year-over-year; searches for "hotels near Xinjiang Khorgos Port" rose 263%; searches for "hotels near Inner Mongolia Erenhot Border Gate scenic area" surged 700%; and searches for "hotels near Guangxi Dongxing Port" increased 175%.

A MEITUAN Travel representative stated that "culture-tourism integration" has become a major trend for National Day holiday travel. "Culture-tourism + various industries" has ignited more tourism destinations with emerging new experiences. Industrial tourism and sports tourism are rising as new travel modes, encouraging visitors to extend their stays and driving comprehensive upgrades in local tourism, dining, and leisure entertainment services.

MEITUAN Travel will collaborate with more high-end hotels, scenic parks, airlines, and travel agencies to provide quality National Day holiday offerings, while selecting more destinations and route experiences that showcase the integrated development of agriculture, culture, sports, tourism, and commerce to help upgrade the tourism market.
