Jiangshan city officially launched a three-year enhancement initiative for its national-level small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) industrial cluster focusing on medium and high-voltage transformers, setting an ambitious target to exceed 20 billion yuan in total cluster output value by 2028.

The announcement came during the power transmission and distribution industry matchmaking session, part of Zhejiang Province's "Ten Chains, Hundred Venues, Ten Thousand Enterprises" series of events held on September 11. At the event, a local innovation platform involving schools and local governments was unveiled, with leading enterprises such as Zhejiang Tianji and Kerun Intelligent signing agreements with universities for industry-academia-research collaboration.

During the supply-demand exchange segment, industry experts and scholars shared their insights on the theme of "Forging Synergy, Building a Top-Tier National Power Transmission and Distribution Cluster." Their discussions centered on enhancing collaborative innovation across the industrial chain, tackling core technical bottlenecks, cultivating high-quality enterprises, and leveraging digital technologies for industrial transformation.

Power transmission and distribution is a traditional pillar industry in Jiangshan, with over six decades of development history. The city has built a relatively complete supporting and service ecosystem that includes transformers, instrument transformers, high and low-voltage switchgear, enameled wires, and insulation components. In 2025, the cluster's output value from large-scale enterprises surpassed the 10 billion yuan mark, making it the first "one county, one industry" in Quzhou city to achieve this milestone, and the medium and high-voltage transformer cluster was officially designated as a national-level SME characteristic industrial cluster.

In the first half of this year, the cluster continued its robust performance, reporting a large-scale enterprise output value of 6.1 billion yuan, a 23% increase year-over-year. The cluster currently comprises more than 150 upstream and downstream enterprises, including 55 at the designated scale.

Under the new action plan, Jiangshan aims to establish an industrial ecosystem characterized by leading companies, specialized supporting firms, and a robust base of SMEs, propelling the city toward its goal of becoming the nation's premier powerhouse in power transmission and distribution.
