Global weekly call volume for major AI models reached 58 trillion tokens in the week ending July 26, according to data from OpenRouter, a decline of 6.75% from the prior week.

Among the models on the list, Chinese AI models collectively recorded a weekly call volume of 33 trillion tokens, down 8.61% from the previous week. In contrast, US AI models saw a steep decline of 67.86%, with a total weekly call volume of just 2.34 trillion tokens. This means China's weekly call volume is now 14.1 times that of the US, maintaining its global lead for the thirteenth consecutive week.

Key Highlights from the Top-Ranked Models

The top five spots in the global weekly call volume rankings were all held by Chinese AI models. Xiaomi MiMo-V2.5 climbed to the top spot with a weekly call volume of 10.5 trillion tokens, a 12% increase from the previous week. Previously, Tencent Hy3 (free) had held the top position for two consecutive weeks during its limited-time free trial period. After the free version was removed from OpenRouter last week, its weekly call volume dropped by 85% to 1.76 trillion tokens, falling to ninth place. However, the earlier free trial helped the model reach developers, and the paid version of Tencent Hy3 saw a dramatic surge in usage, rising to third place with 3.94 trillion tokens, a growth of more than 999% from the previous week.

Other models on the list included DeepSeek-V4-Flash, which rose to second place with a weekly call volume of 6.37 trillion tokens, an 18% increase. Zhipu GLM-5.2 moved up to fourth place with 3.17 trillion tokens, a 10% decline. DeepSeek-V4-Pro entered the top five for the first time, also with 3.17 trillion tokens, a 17% increase. Step 3.7 Flash from Stepfun re-entered the list after two weeks, landing in eighth place with 1.92 trillion tokens, a 156% increase.

Notable Changes in the Rankings

Notably, two models from Anthropic, Claude Opus 4.7 and Claude Opus 4.8, which were ranked eighth and ninth respectively in the previous week, both dropped off the list. This marks the first time in nearly a year that no Anthropic models have appeared on the leaderboard. With the departure of the two Claude models, the only US model remaining on the list is Nvidia Nemotron 3 Ultra (free).
