Regulators have directed the insurance industry to mount a robust response following the landfall of Typhoon Beluga, the 13th named storm of the year. The National Financial Regulatory Administration has instructed insurers to activate fast-track claims channels, deliver proactive on-site services, and ensure prompt compensation, full indemnification where due, and reasonable advance payments.

As of 3:00 PM on August 12, insurance firms in six provincial-level regions—including Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Anhui, and Henan—have received nearly 130,000 claims related to the typhoon. The total estimated loss stands at 1.75 billion yuan, with 80 million yuan already paid out, including advance payments.

Authorities have also urged insurers to coordinate closely with local Party committees, governments, and relevant agencies to support early warning efforts, rescue operations, and the broader insurance claims process.
