Tesla's Top North America Sales Executive Departs Amid Wider Management Exodus

Tesla's most senior sales executive for North America has exited the electric vehicle maker, marking the latest departure in a series of high-level management changes at the company. Troy Jones, who served as Vice President overseeing North American sales, service, and delivery operations, has left after 15 years with the automaker. North America represents Tesla's largest market globally.

This development follows a wave of executive departures at Tesla since early last year. Key figures who have left include Omead Afshar (a close associate of Elon Musk), chief battery engineer Drew Baglino, and global public policy head Rohan Patel. Most recently, Optimus humanoid robotics project lead Milan Kovac departed in June, while top battery executive Vinit Mehta exited in May. These exits across legal, supply chain, and technical divisions have raised concerns about internal stability.

The departure comes as Tesla contends with significant sales challenges globally. Demand has notably softened in both European and North American markets, partly attributed to the aging of Tesla's vehicle lineup and intensified competition from rivals offering more affordable alternatives. Following news of Jones' exit, Tesla shares declined by over 1%.

Tesla and Jones did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the departure.
