On February 3, it was learned from the Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration that on the first day of the 2026 Spring Festival travel season, the volume of key material transportation through Zhejiang's coastal ports reached nearly 2.3 million tons. This year's Spring Festival travel period runs from February 2 to March 13. The Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration estimates that over the 40-day travel rush, Zhejiang's coastal ports will handle close to 40 million tons of key supplies, with energy-related materials expected to account for over 60% of the total. February 2 marked the commencement of the travel rush. Among the coastal ports in Zhejiang, the Ningbo Zhoushan Port demonstrated the most remarkable performance. It handled approximately 1.92 million tons of energy supplies, including crude oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and thermal coal for power generation in a single day, providing robust support for the supply of essential civilian goods. Furthermore, ports such as Wenzhou Port, Taizhou Port, and Jiaxing Port also efficiently completed their key material transportation tasks. Specifically, Wenzhou Port handled 154,000 tons of thermal coal and ore, Taizhou Port moved 125,400 tons of thermal coal, and Jiaxing Port transported 94,000 tons of thermal coal. Currently, the inventories of key supplies at Zhejiang's major ports are all at sufficient levels. It is understood that during the Spring Festival holiday, increased electricity loads, concentrated enterprise production, and civilian consumption demands place higher requirements on ensuring the smooth and unimpeded flow of essential goods like energy, grain, and agricultural supplies. To address these challenges, the Zhejiang maritime authorities made advance deployments, establishing a multi-party consultation mechanism involving government, enterprises, and ports to accurately assess the transportation needs of key industries. They also innovatively implemented personalized "one vessel, one strategy" support plans. Across the province, "green channels" have been opened for vessels carrying key supplies, offering priority services such as preferential entry into ports, priority anchorage, and prioritized inspections, which has collectively improved vessel transit efficiency by over 30%. Throughout the Spring Festival travel period, the Zhejiang maritime department will strictly enforce 24-hour emergency duty protocols and plans to deploy 14 patrol vessels for focused coverage in critical waterways. Simultaneously, by establishing a "point-to-point" severe weather alert information dissemination mechanism, they aim to proactively mitigate the impact of adverse winter conditions, such as cold waves and strong winds, on maritime transportation.
