Southern 2x Long Samsung Electronics (07747) saw early gains and narrowed its advance in the afternoon session, with shares climbing 4.48% to 70.88 Hong Kong dollars as of press time, on trading volume of 1.116 billion Hong Kong dollars.

On the market front, South Korea's stock market rebounded today, with Samsung Electronics shares surging over 6% at one point during the session. Additionally, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced a roughly 30% price increase across all MLCC product categories starting August 1, driven by tight supply of AI server and automotive-grade high-capacity MLCCs, along with extended lead times, signaling an upward trend in the passive components sector.

On the regulatory side, South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) declared a suspension of new single-stock leveraged ETF product listings, and starting August 5, will raise the margin requirement for leveraged ETFs from 10 million Korean won to 30 million Korean won.

According to market sources, after over a year of market share battles, research firm Counterpoint Research's latest Global Memory Tracker report for the second quarter of 2026 shows that Samsung Electronics has reclaimed the top global DRAM position with a 39% market share, ending the period where it was previously overtaken by SK Hynix. This reversal is mainly attributed to rising general DRAM prices and the expansion of the HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) business.
