New Oriental Ownership Disclosed: Yu Minhong Holds 12.9% Stake Worth HK$8.9 Billion as Zhou Chenggang Cashes Out RMB 26.85 Million

New Oriental (09901.HK, NYSE:EDU) recently released its annual report for 2026.

The annual report shows that, as of September 11, 2026, New Oriental founder and Chairman Yu Minhong holds 200,451,450 shares, representing a 12.9% stake.

As of September 11, 2026, New Oriental's ownership structure shows First Beijing Investment holding an 11.1% stake as the second-largest shareholder; Invesco holding 5.5%, and Norges Bank holding 5.4%.

As of today's close, New Oriental's Hong Kong stock price stood at HK$44.48, giving it a market value of HK$69 billion. Based on this calculation, Yu Minhong's net worth stands at HK$8.9 billion (approximately RMB 7.6 billion).

New Oriental's Board Director and CEO is Zhou Chenggang, with Yang Zhihui serving as Executive President and CFO, Xie Dongying as a Director, and Baidu founder Robin Li, Li Tingbin, and Zhuge Yue serving as independent directors.

Documents recently filed by New Oriental with the U.S. SEC show that New Oriental CEO Zhou Chenggang sold 70,000 shares on August 7, 2026, cashing out US$3.9781 million (approximately RMB 26.85 million).

Zhou Chenggang joined New Oriental Education & Technology Group in 2000, having previously served as Principal of the Beijing and Shanghai New Oriental Schools, Vice President, Executive Vice President, Executive President of Domestic Business, and President. He has served as a Director of the group since November 2010 and concurrently as Chief Executive Officer since September 2016.

Zhou Chenggang was born in Jiangyin, Jiangsu in 1962. He earned his bachelor's degree from Soochow University and a master's degree in Communication Studies from Macquarie University in Australia. He previously worked as a journalist at the BBC Asia-Pacific department.

Recently, Zhuge Yue also reduced her holdings, selling 2,170 shares on July 31, 2026, cashing out US$122,800.

For the fiscal year ended May 31, 2026, New Oriental reported annual revenue of US$5.661 billion, operating profit of US$643 million, and net profit of US$517 million.

As of May 31 in 2024, 2025, and 2026, New Oriental had 67,935, 76,646, and 81,054 full-time employees, respectively, along with 7,070, 7,465, and 7,318 contract teachers and staff.
