During the golden autumn season, rice fields in Ganyu District, Lianyungang, sway with waves of ripened crops as the harvest season reaches its peak. Farmers are racing against time to gather their hard-earned yields before unfavorable weather returns.

"Safety first—watch your step and be careful with the sickles!" shouted Zhang Dongni, leader of CHINA MOBILE's "Mobile Family" volunteer team in Lianyungang, as she distributed waterproof gloves and tools to over a dozen team members. The volunteers quickly dispersed into fields where machinery couldn’t operate, bending down to manually harvest the rice. Nearby, a "transport squad" carried freshly cut bundles across muddy paths toward waiting tractors.

Noticing an elderly farmer, Mr. Zhang, sighing anxiously by the field, Zhang Dongni reassured him, "Don’t worry, we’ll finish the higher ground first and then move to the lower fields!" Overwhelmed, Mr. Zhang explained, "This rain came at the worst time... If these two acres rot, my year’s work is wasted. I couldn’t sleep last night—but then you arrived this morning!" He soon joined the volunteers in the harvest.

By day’s end, the team had helped five households gather and transport their rice, even assisting with drying. Grateful, Mr. Zhang clasped Zhang Dongni’s hands, saying, "Thank you so much! Without your help, my crops would’ve been lost. CHINA MOBILE truly cares about us farmers!"

This initiative reflects CHINA MOBILE’s commitment to serving rural communities.
