According to the latest data from the Land Registry, Wong Pan-tai, Research Director at Hong Kong Property, indicated that residential property registrations (including primary private homes, secondary private homes, and secondary public housing) have reached 4,006 units from the beginning of January up to the 20th. He projected that the full month's figure could challenge the 6,000-unit mark, which would then represent the second-highest level in half a year. Compared to the 3,850 registrations recorded in January of last year, this would signify a substantial year-on-year increase of over 50%. It is important to note that due to the time required between signing sales agreements and submitting them to the Land Registry for registration, the registration cases for January 2026 generally reflect the market conditions from December 2025.

When analyzing the year-on-year performance of residential property registrations (including primary private homes, secondary private homes, and secondary public housing) across the three main districts for the period up to now this month, the Hong Kong Island district recorded 702 registrations. This represents an increase of approximately 51.3% compared to the 464 registrations in the same period last year. The Kowloon district recorded 1,577 residential property registrations, which is an increase of about 84.4% compared to the 855 registrations from the same time last year. The New Territories district recorded the highest number among the three regions, with 1,727 registrations, marking an increase of approximately 24.9% compared to the 1,383 registrations in the corresponding period last year.
