AKESO (09926) saw its shares rise more than 7% in morning trading. As of the latest update, the stock was up 5.04%, trading at HK$120.8 with a turnover of HK$690 million. The catalyst for the move is news from the CDE website indicating that AKESO's clinical trial application for Cadonilimab injection, filed under registration category 2.2, has received implicit approval. The intended indication is for AK104 monotherapy as a neoadjuvant/adjuvant treatment for resectable high microsatellite instability (MSI-H) or mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) colon cancer. This marks the entry of this globally first-in-class PD-1/CTLA-4 bispecific antibody drug into the field of perioperative treatment for colon cancer. Cadonilimab is recognized as the world's first PD-1/CTLA-4 bispecific tumor immunotherapy drug. It initially received market approval in June 2022 for the treatment of recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer in patients who had failed prior platinum-based chemotherapy, addressing an unmet need in immunotherapy for advanced cervical cancer in China. To date, the intravenous formulation of Cadonilimab has secured approval for three indications within the domestic market.
