US Manufacturing Orders Decline in June, Falling Short of Projections

Factory orders in the United States experienced a decline in June, missing economists' expectations, according to the US Census Bureau on Tuesday.

Total factory orders dropped from $658.8 billion in May to $656.5 billion in June, a month-over-month decrease of 0.3%. This contrasted with the 0.3% growth that had been forecasted by economists surveyed.

The report also indicated that factory shipments fell by 0.2% in June, following a 1.6% increase in May. Meanwhile, unfilled orders rose by 0.6%, marking the 23rd increase in the past 24 months.
