The latest funding round for Anthropic has simultaneously placed all seven co-founders of this artificial intelligence company into the global top 500 wealth rankings, setting a record for the highest number of new entrants from a single company in a single day in the history of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

According to Bloomberg, Anthropic completed a $65 billion funding round this Thursday, reaching a valuation of $965 billion. The seven co-founders, led by siblings Dario Amodei and Daniela Amodei, each hold less than 1% of the company's shares. However, based on wealth index calculations, each individual's stake is valued at approximately $8 billion.

This funding round marks the first time Anthropic's valuation has surpassed that of OpenAI, which was valued at $852 billion following a funding round in March of this year. Anthropic still plans to proceed with its IPO as scheduled, potentially as early as this autumn. Previously, media reports indicated that OpenAI also has plans to go public around the same time.

All Seven Co-Founders Enter the Billionaire List, Highlighting the Continued Wealth Effect of AI

In addition to Dario and Daniela Amodei, the other Anthropic co-founders making their debut on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index include Tom Brown, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish, and Christopher Olah.

The calculations for the co-founders' shareholdings are based on data from Pitchbook and reports from previous funding rounds, with adjustments made by referencing Carta data on typical equity grants for non-founding employees.

The AI wave has continued to generate wealth over the past few years. Jensen Huang's personal wealth has surged from $10.9 billion in October 2022 to over $177 billion, securing him the eighth position on the Bloomberg wealth index.

Bloomberg also announced this month the emergence of 19 new AI billionaires, with a combined net worth of $59 billion. This list includes co-founders of Cerebras Systems, which just went public this month, and Edwin Chen, founder of Surge Lab, whose personal wealth stands at $13 billion.

Co-Founders Pledge to Donate 80% of Their Wealth, CEO Warns of Wealth Concentration Risks

Although most of this wealth currently exists on paper, Anthropic's co-founders have publicly committed to donating 80% of their personal fortunes.

CEO Dario Amodei has repeatedly expressed concerns about the trend of wealth concentration in the AI industry, warning that it could have profound impacts on tax policies, democratic systems, and political influence.

In an article from January 2026, he wrote, "What truly warrants caution is the level of wealth concentration that can tear society apart. Those at the forefront of the AI economic wave should be willing to relinquish both their wealth and their power."

Anthropic's Revenue Grows Rapidly, Valuation Surpasses OpenAI for the First Time

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by a group of former OpenAI employees, driven by disagreements over the company's future direction.

Headquartered in San Francisco, the company's products include the chatbot Claude and a series of tools for businesses. Anthropic expects its second-quarter revenue to reach $10.9 billion, more than doubling from the previous quarter.

Following this funding round, Anthropic's valuation of $965 billion has surpassed OpenAI's $852 billion for the first time, making it the highest-valued private AI company currently.
