Claimed vegetable gardens. Garden harvest results. Colorful painted walls of small gardens.
A hoe connects urban and rural areas, while half an acre of vegetable garden tells a story of shared prosperity. Huanan County has unlocked the "big economy" code through small vegetable gardens, precisely capturing the city's yearning for rural life, with fruitful results in rural revitalization.
In the small vegetable gardens of Jinsheng Village, Tuoyaozi Town, Huanan County, farmer Zhu Fushan is carefully tending to his vegetables. "Customers have claimed the land, and we grow vegetables according to their requirements. The idle gardens have become 'treasure troves.'" Idle land generates income as customized services activate new momentum. Leveraging the resources of the Peacock Valley scenic area, Jinsheng Village innovatively launched the "adopt-a-field" model, transforming farmers' idle small vegetable gardens into "exclusive farms" for urban families. Villagers provide dual services of "self-growing experience" and "full management": the former includes agricultural tools and technical guidance, while the latter offers one-stop planting, maintenance, and delivery services. In a short time, 15 vegetable gardens were enthusiastically claimed, continuously expanding farmers' income channels.
Smart urban-rural connection makes pastoral dreams a reality. In Shuanghe Village, Huanan Town, "customized vegetable gardens" build new bridges for urban-rural integration. Within neat fencing, peppers and eggplants are growing well under professional farmers' meticulous care. Citizens can monitor crop growth through video and personally harvest when mature, experiencing immersive farming joy. This model not only maintains the village's "high aesthetic value" but also generates "high output value," radiating and driving over 50 demonstration households with customized gardens exceeding 90 acres.
Brand empowerment extends the industrial chain to expand prosperity paths. Zhengbei Village, located just 3 kilometers from the county seat, leverages digital platforms and grid systems to create the distinctive "One Acre Square Field" brand under Party branch leadership. The technical team from the county vocational education center provides on-field guidance, while the village collective actively connects with supermarkets to expand sales channels. Fresh fruits and vegetables go directly from gardens to dining tables, reducing intermediate links to help farmers increase income. Currently, the village has over 150 acres of branded vegetable gardens, activating the entire village's economy through demonstration effects.
From Furong Village's collective cultivation of ecological beans with annual production of 9,000 kilograms, where working villagers earn over 100 yuan daily, to Tuoyaozi Town's integration of "customized vegetable packages" and "customized liquor" to extend the industrial chain, small vegetable gardens are unleashing enormous energy. Huanan County will continue to deeply cultivate the garden economy, enhancing product competitiveness through e-commerce platforms, trade fairs, and other channels, allowing this fertile land to bloom with even more brilliant flowers of revitalization.
