Southern 2x Short SK hynix (07709) surged, rising 7% to HK$39.72 as of press time, with a trading volume of HK$2.236 billion. Market sentiment was lifted after US stocks posted gains on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones and S&P 500 both hitting new all-time highs, led by strong tech sector performance and a rebound in risk appetite. This boosted Hong Kong-listed memory concept stocks, which opened higher across the board, with Southern 2x Short SK hynix climbing sharply in early trading.

Additionally, SK hynix partnered with SanDisk to launch the High Bandwidth Flash (HBF) industry standard, attracting Google and Tenstorrent to join the alliance. This development has heightened market interest in the memory sector. Meanwhile, according to South Korean media reports, on August 5, a shareholder group filed a criminal complaint against the CEOs of Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, alleging that bonuses were paid without proper oversight from collective bargaining agreements. Police have launched an investigation into the case. The group claims the executives approved bonus payments without thoroughly reviewing labor agreements, establishing a mechanism that unreasonably drained company assets, thus constituting a breach of trust.
