Mining titan Rio Tinto PLC unveiled Tuesday that Simon Trott, head of its iron ore division, will ascend to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Trott succeeds Jakob Stausholm, who revealed plans to resign last May.
Having dedicated over twenty years to the world's premier iron ore producer, Trott has driven Rio Tinto's profit engine throughout the past quadrennial. His formal assumption of the group CEO position is scheduled for August 25.
