Qingdao is accelerating a major upgrade of its urban water supply network, a critical project aimed at reinforcing the safety and reliability of water delivery across the city. The initiative, which focuses on replacing aging infrastructure, will see the renovation of pipelines along 30 key urban roads, including Qingshan Road and Kewei 4th Road. With a total investment of approximately 170 million yuan, the three-year plan is designed to modernize around 15 kilometers of pipelines, positioning it as a vital municipal project for improving public services.

The first phase of this program has already seen significant progress, with initial construction completed on eight sections, including Qingshan Road, Kewei 4th Road, and Anqing Road. These completed segments account for about 3.4 kilometers of the total planned upgrades.

Once fully operational, the upgrades are expected to transform the water supply model for the area east of Haier Road, shifting from a single-line feed to a more resilient dual-line backup system. This enhancement will markedly improve regional water supply stability and bolster the safety and consistency of water access for local residents.

To fund this extensive infrastructure work, Qingdao has leveraged policy opportunities, including ultra-long-term special treasury bonds, central budget investments, and local government bond self-issuance policies, ensuring the project advances without financial constraints.
