U.S. stocks ended lower on Wednesday(Feb 4), with losses in Advanced Micro Devices, Palantir and other technology companies, as investors worried about pricey valuations and whether Wall Street's AI rally has reached its peak.

Advanced Micro Devices 's stock sank 17.3% on Wednesday, its largest daily drop since October 2022. AMD’s beat wasn’t as strong as it seemed, and high operating expenditures also clouded a strong report.

A total number of 1.45M options related to AMD were traded on Wednesday, up 142% from the previous trading day, of which call options accounted for 56%. Particularly high volume was seen for the $200 strike put option expiring Feb 6, 2026, with 40,081 contracts trading.

Apple shares rose 2.6% as investors increasingly view it as an oasis of safety amid fears of artificial intelligence disruption.

A total number of 1.96M options related to Apple were traded on Wednesday, up 88% from the previous trading day, of which call options accounted for 65%. Particularly high volume was seen for the $280 strike call option expiring Feb 6, 2026, with 67,847 contracts trading.
