Market regulators in Yaocun Town, Langxi County, Anhui Province, recently launched a special enforcement campaign focusing on intellectual property rights. The initiative aims to strengthen protections for both rights holders and consumers.

Officials precisely targeted the operation by analyzing the distribution characteristics of local businesses. They created a detailed inspection plan focusing on daily goods retailers, specialty local product shops, agricultural supply stores, and shops near scenic areas. Key areas of scrutiny included the proper use of geographical indication labels, legal use of registered trademarks, and the sale of counterfeit or infringing goods. This list-based, targeted approach was designed to ensure the inspection's effectiveness.

During the enforcement process, officers conducted on-site checks of product packaging and labels at various business premises. They specifically looked for unauthorized use of geographical indication marks, fraudulent use of geographical indication product names, and sales of goods infringing on registered trademark rights. The operation uncovered a case where a business was suspected of selling battery products that fraudulently used the registered trademark "Nanfu." Enforcement personnel immediately secured evidence and placed the items under temporary custody, while contacting the trademark owner to assist with identification and verification.

The campaign combined strict enforcement with educational outreach. Officials explained to shop owners the relevant provisions of the Trademark Law of the People's Republic of China and the Measures for the Protection of Geographical Indication Products. By citing typical cases, they clarified the legal liabilities associated with trademark infringement and the misuse of geographical indications. This approach guided business operators toward honest and lawful conduct, urging them to resist counterfeit and infringing goods and to help foster a market environment that respects intellectual property and supports innovation.

Looking ahead, the Yaocun market regulatory authority will maintain a high-pressure stance on intellectual property protection. It plans to establish a long-term supervision mechanism combining routine inspections with special targeted actions, and to intensify enforcement efforts in key sectors and for key products. The goal is to safeguard market order stability and support high-quality economic development through robust law enforcement.
