Since the launch of China's 14th Five-Year Plan, Tianshui City in Gansu Province has prioritized building a modern mountainous agricultural demonstration zone. The city implemented four major projects: upgrading the fruit industry, improving vegetable quality and variety, expanding livestock production, and standardizing local medicinal herbs. These efforts have revitalized rural specialty industries.

As part of its three-year action plan to modernize cold and arid agriculture, Tianshui has established Asia's largest元帅系 apple production base. Currently, the city cultivates 2.3 million mu of fruits, 1.13 million mu of vegetables, and 270,000 mu of medicinal herbs, with livestock and poultry reaching 14.8 million heads. By 2025, the output value of these four industries is projected to hit 13.3 billion, 10.8 billion, 12.5 billion, and 1.8 billion yuan respectively, accounting for over 80% of farmers' income in key production areas.

Aligned with green and quality-driven strategies, Tianshui introduced 285 new fruit and vegetable varieties, adopted advanced technologies like dwarfing dense planting and smart agriculture, and allocated 460 million yuan in subsidies over three years. The city upgraded 122,000 mu of orchards, built 26,000 mu of disaster prevention facilities, and expanded protected agriculture to 320,000 mu. Standardization rates for fruits, vegetables, and herbs reached 80%, 81%, and 67%, while large-scale livestock farming hit 73%. Agricultural product safety compliance remains above 98%.

Tianshui has certified 353 green and organic products, including nine nationally recognized specialty items. It leads Gansu in green food production and ranks third in geographical indication products. The city also fostered 629 agribusinesses, 10,364 cooperatives, and 4,110 family farms, with 1,036 cold storage facilities boasting 1.145 million tons of capacity—among Gansu's highest. Leading firms like Zhongxing Junye boosted agricultural processing conversion to 65%.

The city now hosts five national modern agricultural parks, three provincial industrial clusters, and four strong agricultural towns, achieving full coverage of provincial-level modern agricultural parks across all seven counties. Tianshui's 81 "Ganwei" branded products include Huaniu apples, which topped China's regional fruit brand value list for nine consecutive years. Other popular exports include Qinzhou cherries and Qin'an peaches, while Tianshui's spicy hotpot trend has boosted sales of local ingredients like Gangu chili peppers and Wushan vegetables.
